Yagba West Transition Committee Congratulates Nigerians, Says Nigeria Democracy Is A Child of Necessity

As Nigerians celebrated Democracy Day on June 12th, the Yagba West Local Government Council Transition Committee joined in by congratulating citizens on the occasion. The committee stated that Nigeria’s democracy is a child of necessity, and it is important to reflect on the journey so far.

Speaking on the significance of Democracy Day in a statement signed by Hon Oluwafemi Victor Adeyeye, the transition committee secretary, the Chairman of Yagba West Transition Committee, Hon Tosin Olokun described it as a moment to reflect on the country’s democratic journey, the struggles of the past, and the achievements of the present.

“Democracy Day is a day that holds significance in the history of our nation. It is a moment for us to reflect on the birth of our democracy, the challenges we faced in achieving it, and the strides we have made since then. It is a time for us all to come together and celebrate our hard-won freedom and the progress we have made as a nation,” said Hon Tosin.

The committee, therefore, seized the occasion to appeal to Nigerians to remain committed to democracy and work towards building a united, prosperous, and peaceful nation.

“We must remain steadfast in our commitment to democracy, and work together to build a more united, prosperous, and peaceful Nigeria. We must continue to uphold the ideals of democracy, including respect for the rule of law, accountability, transparency, and good governance,” Hon Olokun added.

According to the transition committee chairman, Yagba West is a strong supporter of democratic ideals and will continue to work towards promoting them.

“On this occasion of Democracy Day, we want to assure our people and the people of Nigeria that we remain fully committed to promoting democratic ideals at all levels of governance. We will continue to work with relevant stakeholders to promote accountability, transparency, and good governance in our communities,” pledged Hon. Olokun.
